Loss Control

Loss control solutions for craft breweries and distilleries include insurance, safe operating procedures, and industry experience. Insurance protects against property damage, product loss, and customer injury. Be sure to purchase a carefully designed business operations package (BOP). The BOP is tailored to your operation – avoid any canned, one-size-fits-all products. Insurance for craft breweries and distilleries should include adequate coverage in property and liability (P&L). But ‘adequate’ means different things to different people. Insurers may describe their customers as risk averse or risk tolerant. Risk averse customers want a great degree of coverage with manageable deductibles. On the other hand, risk tolerant customers are more likely to accept some losses. Risk tolerant insureds can be motivated by having cash reserves or because they want to keep premiums to a minimum. In any case, insurance providers need to understand your specific business to provide the loss control solutions. Property and liability coverage are the two main insurance categories for loss control for breweries and distilleries. For issues like fire and theft, property insurance is used. Liability coverage is for protecting against injuring a customer or visitor. Casualty is another word frequently used in place of liability. Workers compensation is a special class of casualty protection for employees who may be hurt on the job. Many special forms of coverage protect against specific losses. These add-ons are called supplementals. Supplementals can protect against product recall, production shutdowns, alcohol liability, cyber threats, flooding, and other rare, but substantial risks. Business plans often allow businesses to include fleet insurance. Choosing an experienced insurer is a sound business decision. With over three decades of service to craft beverage producers, Whalen Insurance loss control solutions for breweries and distilleries are tailored to the specific needs of the industry.

Nothing Feels Better than Pressure Relief

Another bad gas joke. The latest blockbuster film? Sorry, I’m talking about the mundane, but much more important, topic of tank pressure relief in breweries. Beer vessels usually operate at a [...]
